Nashville's Veterans Day Parade

A Tennessee Capitol Tradition for over 60 years.

Parade Start Time 11/11/11 11:11.11 AM

For over 60 years "Nashville's Veterans Day Parade" has been a Tennessee Capitol tradition to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. The parade's organizers, the Davidson County Veterans Coordinating Council (DCVCC), have proudly been recognized as a Department of Defense designated regional Veterans Day parade in conjunction with US Department of Veterans Affairs. It's always a great success as thousands of residents come out to enjoy the day and pay tribute to America's heroes--the veterans of our Armed Forces. This year they have planned an even bigger and better Nashville's Veterans Day Parade.

In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day / Veterans Day with the following words:
"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"
